IQALUIT, Nunavut November 14, 2008 –.

A judicial recount for the constituency of Uqqummiut conducted by Justice Earl Johnson this morning confirmed James Arreak as the winning candidate. Mr. Arreak obtained 214 votes compared with Loasie Audlakiak’s 206 and 110 obtained by Igah Hainnu.

The recount was required when the results on election day showed a difference of less than 2% between the number of votes garnered by James Arreak and his nearest competitor.
