The pre-election period started on June 27th, 2017 and will end the day the writ is issued on September 25th, 2017.
During the pre-election period, prospective candidates can campaign. However, there are some rules in the Nunavut Elections Act that must be followed during this period:
- The prospective candidate can only use their own personal resources (money and/or goods & services).
- These personal resources must be recorded as a contribution on the financial return.
- The combination of pre-election and election expenses cannot be more than $30,000.
