Chief Electoral Officer issues a new writ of election for the constituency of South Baffin


RANKIN INLET, Nunavut - Upon receiving a proclamation from the Commissioner of Nunavut, the Chief Electoral Officer issued a new writ of election for the constituency of South Baffin late this afternoon. Election day will be November 3.

Nunavummiut are advised that an otherwise eligible voter must be resident in South Baffin as of today to qualify to vote in this election. In addition to the usual criteria, prospective candidates must be eligible voters.

Declarations of candidacy are available from the returning officer’s office, located at the Cape Dorset hamlet office or from the assistant returning officer in Kimmirut, Kitty Arlooktook-Barrieau. Declaration forms are also available by e-mail, or from the Elections Nunavut website,

The completed documents must be submitted to the Returning Officer or Assistant Returning Officer by 2pm Eastern time Friday, October 3.
