Electoral Boundaries Commission Announces Schedule for Public Hearings

IQALUIT, Nunavut - The Electoral Boundaries Commission today announced its schedule for public hearings.

The Electoral Boundaries Commission was established by the Legislative Assembly on October 25, 2010. Under the Nunavut Elections Act, the Electoral Boundaries Commission is required to hold public hearings prior to submitting its report to the Legislative Assembly.

On November 1, 2010, the Commission formally invited all Nunavut mayors to consider requesting the Electoral Boundaries Commission to hold a public hearing in their community.

Presiding Officer Justice J. Edward (Ted) Richard said, “The Commission’s decisions concerning which communities to visit were based on a number of factors, including requests that we received from mayors and other stakeholders.”

The Commission’s schedule for public hearings is as follows:
