Kugluktuk Liquor Plebiscite

KUGLUKTUK, Nunavut

Voters in Kugluktuk marked their ballots today in the second liquor plebiscite to be
held in four years.

The question before them on this occasion was “Are you in favour of establishing a
Kugluktuk Alcohol Education Committee under paragraph 48(2)(d) of the Liquor
Act?” In order for the proposition to succeed, sixty percent of the valid votes cast
must be in favour.

In total 360 voters came to the polls. 234 voted in favour of the question while 120
voted against it. Six ballots were rejected.
Voter turnout was 51%.

As a result of this vote a Kugluktuk Alcohol Education Committee will be
established.
