BAKER LAKE, Nunavut – (January 22, 2018)
On January 22, eligible voters in Baker Lake voted on the following question:

“Are you in favour of ending the current system of liquor restriction in Baker Lake and having an unrestricted system where only the general liquor laws of Nunavut apply?”

The judge has certified that Jeannie Ehaloak has obtained a higher number of votes than any other candidate and is declared elected.

RANKIN INLET, Nunavut
Pursuant to the Proclamation of Election by the Commissioner of Nunavut, the Chief Electoral Officer has issued a writ of election to the Returning Officers in each of Nunavut’s 22 constituencies. The Election Day will be October 30.

In March 2017, the Minister of Finance instructed the Chief Electoral Officer to conduct a plebiscite in Rankin Inlet and Cambridge Bay to ask voters: “Are you in favour of a beer and wine store opening in your municipality?”
